And I’m back

Have you ever had one of those several-day stretches where circumstances conspire to keep you incommunicado and when you finally get back in touch you find an obscene number of messages waiting for you in your inbox(s)? I never thought three days would be long enough for that to happen. Four maybe, but three? Never!

Anyway, a complex stew of social obligation, laziness, hard work, and slight illness all came together to keep me offline for the tail end of last week. In that time, however, I got a lot of work done on yon ToA quilt. Sewed all the half-square triangles into their blocks, pressed them, and laid them out in stacks. Then (another day’s work) laid them out properly and pinned them into the columns of the quilt ere I started sewing.

From right to left here are the stages of the process: Blocks stacked, laid out, pinned, then condensed and awaiting piecing. Also, my mug of tea. That day ’twas pomegranate oolong. Yum.

Stages of piecing

As of now all 14 columns have been pinned and 6 are already pieced and ready for pressing. Huzzah!

Also, this is a totally rad coat I found at Value World. It looks a little off-kilter due to being draped over the rack, but it was a coat among coats and if it were but a wee bit looser in the shoulders I’d be wearing it now. Alas.

Alas, too small

Welcome back & hope you are feeling better. Love ToA, but bummed it won’t be mine.
I am having trouble grasping the concept of ‘coat’ — it is still in the high 90s here!

Really? Hm, you must be far south then. Up here in the frigid north it’s been on average 50 to 60 F for the past week or so. Pretty nice, actually. (I prefer the cold.)
